If AEW President Tony Khan’s notepad is somehow the final draft of his company’s creative direction, wrestling fans are in for something special at AEW Full Gear in November.
A recent photo showed Khan on the sidelines at a Jacksonville Jaguars game, but wrestling fans’ collective attention was instead placed on a piece of paper that the Jaguars co-owner was holding closely on his chest.
Twitter used @Surya_KL_ pointed out the notepad in a post on October 13, one month before AEW Full Gear is set to be held in Minnesota, and noticed that the paper potentially leaked the match card for the event.
The image clearly has “Full Gear November 13” written on the first line of the page, followed by what appears to be a list of names from the AEW roster.
Using the image, one Reddit user utilized their FBI-esque abilities to zoom in and sniff out the following matches as the potential AEW Full Gear card for 2021:
- Kenny Omega vs. “Hangman” Adam Page
- Bryan Danielson vs. Jon Moxley
- The Inner Circle vs. American Top Team
- MJF vs. Darby Allin
- CM Punk vs. Wardlow
- Thunder Rosa vs. Jade Cargill
- Christian Cage vs. Adam Cole
- The Young Bucks vs. Jurassic Express
- Cody Rhodes vs. Malakai Black OR Andrade El Idole OR Miro
Many of the matches make sense based on AEW’s programming up until the October 13 date, including the main event match for the AEW World Heavyweight Championship between champion Kenny Omega and challenger “Hangman” Adam Page.
Some, like the tag-team match between The Inner Circle vs. American Top Team, the Young Bucks vs. Jurassic Express, and the battle between MJF and Darby Allin, have been brewing for weeks across AEW Dynamite and AEW Rampage episodes.
Others, like Bryan Danielson vs. Jon Moxley and Christian Cage vs. Adam Cole, could come together as a result of AEW’s world title eliminator tournament, which is scheduled to conclude at Full Gear in November.
Thunder Rosa vs. Jade Cargill sounds like a match that would determine the next challenger for AEW Women’s Champion Dr. Britt Baker, who didn’t appear to have an opponent set in the “leaked” version of the Full Gear card.
CM Punk vs. Wardlow still has a month left to develop, along with a potential rivalry between Cody Rhodes and Andrade El Idolo or Miro.
Add in other big names, like the Lucha Brothers, the Men of the Year, Pac, and more, and this card would be loaded.
AEW has been known to tease things before they actually happen to build up more excitement for an event, an approach that was evident for CM Punk’s return to wrestling and Bryan Danielson’s AEW debut.
The company is also incredibly deliberate with everything they do, and it wouldn’t be surprising to find out that Khan made that notepad visible to get fans interested in some of the stories that haven’t been told yet.
On the other hand, the notepad could simply be ideas for a card that’s still a month away from the time of the “leak,” and, as they say in professional wrestling, is “subject to change.”
No matter how you spin it, Khan’s passion for the wrestling industry shines through no matter what he’s doing, and he is evidently always thinking of ideas for the creative direction of AEW’s programming.
