David Austin Bumpus, Founder of The Swing of Things
David Austin Bumpus writes and manages content for The Swing of Things, and is one of the co-founders of the site. He has been writing about sports for five years, and has followed them his entire life, mainly focusing on his local New England teams. He has experience at the Boston Globe, WEBN-TV, the Nashua Telegraph, and other school publications. He has covered almost every sport, and will contribute pieces of all kinds to the website in order to give the audience what they need to hear.
Eric Coburn, Contributor
Eric Coburn is a contributing writer for The Swing of Things, writing about all sports but focusing mainly on hockey. The Londonderry, New Hampshire native is a sophomore at Merrimack College in Andover, Massachusetts and is double majoring in Business and Communications as well as a member of the men’s lacrosse team. He is also the Sports Editor for his college’s newspaper, The Beacon. He has followed and had a passion for sports since a very young age and likes to provide insight and view points that people may have not thought of prior.
Ryan Hathaway, Contributor
Ryan Hathaway is a contributing writer for Swing of Things Sports, focusing on basketball but dabbling in football, baseball, and occasionally hockey in a pinch. As a full-time college student at Curry in Milton, Mass., he is currently working towards a degree in Communication concentrated in Sports Journalism. He is pursuing minors in Business Management and English to round out his skill-set. He first started blogging through FanPosts on SBNation in High School, and became a Staff Writer for FanSided’s BoSox Injection his freshman year of college. He would later move to the rising baseball blog Baseball Essential, before deciding to join the Swing of Things team. He has also worked throughout his time as a full-time student, and his first media job came as an intern for Gatehouse Media’s WickedLocal.com. He has since interned with the Patriot Ledger and Boston Globe, and currently works part time as a correspondent at both publications.
Joshua Powers is a hockey contributor for The Swing of Things, and the Boston Bruins Beat Writer for WEBN-TV Sports. He has been writing sports throughout his high school and college career starting with the Nashua Telegraph and the Hollis Brookline Journal in New Hampshire. His other experience in writing includes Patriots Life & WEBN-TV. He is also a Remote Production Intern with NESN. Most of his time in sports writing has been spent writing about hockey.
