Shaquille O’Neal goes through table on AEW Dynamite
If Shaquille O’Neal didn’t have as much success on the basketball court as he did, it seems like he could’ve had a career in the wrestling ring.
As AEW Dynamite works its way through the show’s second year on TNT, the upstart wrestling promotion got a helpful rub from one of the network’s biggest stars: Shaq himself.
Just a few days before AEW Revolution on March 7, AEW had itself a marquee match as Shaq teamed up with Jade Cargill in a mixed tag against AEW’s Executive Vice President Cody Rhodes and Red Velvet.
It wasn’t Shaq’s first time in a professional wrestling ring, or even his first time in an actual match. But, the show marked the NBA legend’s debut in AEW after a few appearances in WWE, and the fellow former WWE superstar Rhodes made sure that Shaq was able to experience going through a table for the first time.
Midway through the match, Rhodes hit Shaq with a crossbody, sending the duo off the ring apron and through a pair of tables that were set up next to the ring.
As the tables themselves exploded, so did the minds of wrestling fans around the world that tuned into the go-home edition of AEW Dynamite before AEW Revolution.
And, if Shaq decides that it’s time to end his long tenure on Inside The NBA , TNT’s signature basketball studio programming, it looks like he could easily make a run at the AEW World Championship.
