WWE SmackDown: New York Knicks’ Jalen Brunson and Indiana Pacers’ Tyrese Haliburton go head-to-head at MSG

After going head-to-head in the 2024 NBA Playoffs, New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson and Indiana Pacers forward Tyrese Haliburton almost came to blows in a WWE ring on the June 28, 2024 episode of SmackDown, live from Madison Square Garden.

During his entrance for a Triple Threat qualifying match for this year’s men’s Money in the Bank ladder match, Logan Paul generated solid heat in enemy territory by bringing Haliburton out as part of his entrance.

Haliburton, a massive WWE fan, did his best “Stone Cold” Steve Austin impression, walking out in a “Tyrese 3:17” shirt and Stone Cold’s signature jean shorts, getting flooded with boo’s in the process.

Near the end of the match, Haliburton almost had the chance to turn a dream into a reality as he grabbed a pair of brass knuckles to assist Paul in his match, but the hometown hero Brunson wasn’t going to let his NBA rival bend the rules in the Knicks’ own arena.

Brunson and Haliburton went face-to-face ringside before getting separated by security, all leading to a roll-up from LA Knight on Paul for a surprise win.

After the match, Haliburton and Paul weren’t done in their efforts to take out Knight, only to be thwarted by Brunson one more time.

While Haliburton wielded the brass knuckles, Brunson came with his own equalizer: a steel chair.

No punches or chair shots were reported, and NBA Commission Adam Silver’s heart rate is likely back to normal after skyrocketing for a few minutes.

But, maybe these two NBA stars can settle things once and for all in a WWE ring as part of the company’s new partnership with the City of Indianapolis as a host for three major events on the WWE calendar, including a future WrestleMania.
